healthy recipe | Banana Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

May 31, 2010 recipes May 31, 2010

“I like them but I don’t think anyone else will….”  (Response from hubby – my official healthy-recipe-taste-tester) This is one of my new favorite cookies! I think I may add chopped walnuts to it next time for some “crunch.” Recipe found on mothering.com.  Submitted by Cathe Olson, author of Simply Natural Baby Food.   She created this moist cookie recipe using no sweetener, butter, eggs or wheat. Directions: ...

Why are you doing this?

May 24, 2010 health May 24, 2010

It’s an important question to ask yourself and know the answer for anything that we do in life.  I had a great conversation with a great friend of mine a while back during her (and my) contest preparation during which she said “I don’t even know why I’m doing this anymore.”  If we don’t have a good reason to do something, we usually won’t do it to the best of our ability or stick it out through the end.  That reason can change along the way but we have to have a reason, in my opinion.  What is your motivation? My reason for competing started out that I wanted to get in the best shape of my life before getting pregnant and accomplish the goal ...

Apple Cider Vinegar

May 24, 2010 health May 24, 2010

I first read about Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) on one of my favorite blogs.  Stacey is brilliant for thinking of testing her blood sugar and actually confirming the claims of ACV!!! I may steal her idea to test other foods and blood sugar. Read her post here:  Muscle and the City I promised that after the show I would start sharing with you things I am eating and doing to stay in shape and healthy and here is the first one!  I take a Tablespoon of ACV before breakfast, lunch and dinner, so three times a day.  I add a bit of lemon juice (Again, thanks to Stacey of Muscle and the City for that recommendation) and a little water.  It gets easier every time!  ...

Winner

May 23, 2010 competition May 23, 2010

No, I didn’t win it all, but I did win a little trophy!  :) I placed 5th out of 11.  And, top 5 get a trophy, so…there’s my little cup!  And, yes, we are in the parking lot of the Outback and it was fabulous. And, no, I did not get sick. Just more bloated after the carbs & water than on stage. Short story with the long one to follow shortly…. I showed up for weigh/sign-in’s and was told I had to choose between Figure & Bikini! :-O Both my trainer and one of the judges said Bikini – Bikini it was!  (I now have my Figure Suit for sale though – FYI) I wanted to do Figure all along but knew I had ...

Inspiring others toward happiness….

May 18, 2010 health May 18, 2010

I have recently discovered tea. I know, right? Seriously…now, at 27 years old? I know. Oh well, better late than never.  Have you checked out drinking hot tea?  Most of the herbal teas have 0 cal / 0 carbs / 0 protein / 0 sodium / 0 potassium….need I go on?  There are some with caffeine and some without.  We drink the caffeinated variety in the morning, switch to no caffeine during the day for a “sweet” treat between meals or after meals and then I LOVE my night time teas at night with chamomile to calm.  I’ve been sleeping really well with my cup of tea at night! So….Yogi Teas are organic and I love them partially because they have cute little sayings on ...
