American Heart Association | Heart Walk

September 6, 2010 fitness September 6, 2010

Did you know…Cardiovascular diseases are the NUMBER ONE killer in the United States.  Someone dies from CVD every 38 seconds! Heart disease also kills more women than all forms of cancer combined! Take a look at this map!  Do you think lifestyle has something to do with it? Do you know someone at risk?  Do you have heart disease in your family? Are you doing everything you can to help prevent this disease from impacting your family? It is so important to get this information out there. I really believe that Americans DO NOT KNOW what to do to get and stay healthy.  And that they do not have the proper FEAR of what their bad habits will do to them and their families. Our culture ...

emmy awards | muscles are sexy

August 31, 2010 beauty August 31, 2010

You all know by now that I love muscles!  I love the physique of a tough, strong, muscular woman.  I have a great respect for women who work hard to stay lean and strong now that I’ve done it!  It’s hard work! My idea of a strong and healthy physique has changed. I no longer think that 6% body fat is sexy.  BUT, I still think that a muscular physique on a woman is sexy!  What could be better than a woman who is strong and healthy enough to live??  I love that some of these ladies are NOT in their 20′s and they are still strong and sexy!!!  I hope to look as rockin’ as they do as I age! I thought I’d share some ...

p90x | choosing a fitness program

August 31, 2010 fitness August 31, 2010

Many of you ask me about different fitness programs so I thought it’d be a great topic for a post!  The honest truth is…..it doesn’t really matter which one you pick!!  Just pick one and do it!! There are certain aspects you should look for in the program that I’ll tell you below. It should go w/o saying, but please get checked out by a health professional before starting a program! I’ve done and own p90x. (I liked it more once I figured out how to turn off the music and dialogue and only kept the cues while I used my own workout music!)  I like it because it’s tough and it incorporates ALL aspects a good fitness plan should…and includes a diet plan!  You ...

almost killed Toby :( | hot diggity dog

August 4, 2010 dogs August 4, 2010

We took Toby for a run this morning.  We live in Louisiana so it’s hot, but we took him early. Well, evidently we pushed it a bit far for him. He was hotter than normal and had a hard time cooling down. My sweet hubby was worried about him and put him in the bathtub, put a fan on him and then we put a cool towel on his back.  By the time I took this picture his “near death experience” where “his life flashed before his eyes” according to my hubby (LOL…I’m chuckling again as I write this) was over and he was feeling fine….hence the doggie smile!  Can you tell we don’t have any kids? I thought I’d share some tips to be ...
