[straight out of camera photo of my Xmas tree, using self timer, tripod, and in the evening]
A few of my favorite parts of this last week…
- seeing my whole family – which happens rarely, hopefully once a year.
- eating out for Thanksgiving – HUGE spread of food. NO cleanup.
- relaxing all day Thanksgiving – NO cooking or cleaning.
- a family picture, finally.
- traveling North for cooler weather. It was freezing!
- Christmas is almost here!
- taking Toby with us out of town.
We went to Hot Springs, AR [where my mother used to vacation as a child in the 60’s] and it was a really neat trip! We have been watching the HBO Show Boardwalk Empire and are obsessed with gangsters [what’s new] so we went to the Gangster Museum in Hot Springs to learn more about the gangster activity there in the 20’s. Here is Al Capone grabbing my butt…..and my gangster hubby…

We went to the Arlington Hotel for Thanksgiving dinner, which was a.ma.zing. No clean up. No prep. More food than I’ve ever seen in my life! Ridiculously good. Cheaper than if we’d bought all that for 6 people! We’ll definitely do that again! There was a gingerbread house in the lobby that was awesome!
[check out the cute Santa in the airplane]
We drank the water straight out of the drinking fountains in Hot Springs and checked out the fountains. We didn’t take a bath though. There are bath houses where you can take a real Hot Springs bath and there are some healing qualities, they say.
Our sweet Toby…sleepy Toby on the top pic. He didn’t sleep much all week. He didn’t want to miss anything!
The bottom pics is one of my favorites. I love the mornings with my family….waking up and drinking coffee [and tea] together. Cold weather. Socks and slippers. PJ’s. Relaxing. No hurry. Talking. That’s my favorite time with my family. This is my dad hanging out with Toby on the balcony of our condo.
I’ll be sharing some more pics in a couple of weeks…check back later!
Some of my friends would never go out to eat on Thanksgiving. Would you? Would you rather put together a feast?
How was your Thanksgiving?
